.: CREW SUPPLY AND MANAGEMENT
Singapore, being the maritime hub of the region, attracts a constant influx of Indonesian and Filipino crew; from masters to mess boys they are readily available. The company has in recent years managed groups of crew who form the framework of local based officers and ratings. They have served in Papua New Guinea, Australia, New Zealand, Vietnam, Myanmar, Indonesia, Malaysia, Cambodia, China, Philippines, Bangladesh, India as well as outbound vessels trading internationally. A sound understanding of the backgrounds and cultures has created a good working environment with the Asian crew and European officers representing a bold new era in crew management.
While our contracts are world-wide, having more than 5,000 seagoing staff on our payrolls, the company has a leading presence in the European sector, being one of the major employers of European seamen with over 2,000 European officers and crew. Austen has a substantial number of Australian and New Zealand officers on our payroll besides Philippines, Indonesian, Indian junior officers and crew. All our sea-staff are in possession of the necessary certification and licence as required under the provisions of STCW 95 convention and any additional training that is required by our principals. For vessels that operate in Australian waters, we have access to Australian officers and ratings through P&O Maritime Services and our major client, Farstad Shipping (Indian Pacific) Ltd.
